Who is Hamas a creation of? Is it the instrument of the Muslim Brotherhood to subject the Palestinian people to Islamic law? Has it been manipulated by Israel to discredit the Palestinian Authority and undermine the two-state solution? Is it a pawn of Iran, a puppet of Qatar? Hamas is all of this and more because, since October 7th, for Palestinians, it has definitively taken the lead in the resistance against the Israeli occupier.
In this urgent documentary, Sofia Amara gained access to key players in the conflict: influential members of Hamas’s political and military branches, Palestinian prisoners exchanged for Israeli hostages, the former head of Shin Bet, who is highly critical of Israeli politicians, as well as poignant women such as Yocheved Lifshitz, one of the first hostages released by the terrorist organization, and the wife of Marwan Barghouti, who has been imprisoned in Israel for twenty years. Dubbed the Palestinian Mandela, he is the only one with the legitimacy to lead peace negotiations with Israel.
