Lyes is suddenly taken away from Émilie, the foster mother who has cared for him since he was a baby and who deeply wishes to adopt him. The child is then subjected to the harsh realities of the Child Welfare System (ASE), which refuses to sever ties with his biological mother, even though she is incapable of taking care of him. Agathe, Émilie’s sister, has never given up on the child. She fights against the system, determined to maintain a connection with him and to bring him into her home to help him rebuild his life.
Nobody’s Child is an adaptation of Lyes Louffok’s book Dans l’enfer des foyers (In the Hell of Foster Homes), where he recounts his painful journey as a child placed in the Child Welfare System.
