A few months away from retirement, Maître Philippe Dupré, an elegant and dry-witted notary, welcomes Maître Leila Nivert, a determined thirty-something colleague from a Parisian notary office, to his practice. Maître Dupré plans to hand over his practice, and Leila is preparing to take over. During this transition period, Philippe and Leila get to know each other, mutually enriching their practice. They assist clients at all the significant moments of their lives: marriage, divorce, inheritance, etc.
The mini-series and its direction rely on the intimate stories of the clients, highlighting their diversity and universal nature. The cases handled by Leila and Philippe shed new light on their professional practice and personal concerns, at a time when one is enthusiastically embarking on a new chapter of a career that the other is about to leave with some regrets, given his passion for the job.
Season 1 of “L’étude” follows the six months of this office transfer between Philippe and Leila.
